SPMR ORGANIZES CLUJ INTER- COLLEGIATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament of Cluster University of Jammu was organised by Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu. Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, CLUJ was chief guest on the occasion, while Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director, Physical Education and Sports, CLUJ was guest of honour. Prof. (Dr.) Ranvijay Singh, Controller of Examinations, CLUJ, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh, Principal, Govt SPMR College of Commerce were special guests on the occasion. In the tournament, 3 teams from different colleges participated and displayed their skills and sportsmanship.
GGM Science College emerged as the winner and Govt. MAM College was the Runner up of the tournament. Star performers of the tournament included Sudanshu from GGM Science College, Yaseen Malik from MAM College and Nitin Singh Chib of SPMR college. In a display of sportsmanship and camaraderie, all participating teams congratulated the winning team on their success.
Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Anand, while addressing the gathering, appraised the audience about the various opportunities made available to students of CLUJ by the Cluster University of Jammu. He congratulated the host college for organising the event and its success, and said that along with academic endeavours, sports forms a very important aspect of college life.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh said that in today’s digital world, students are getting more and more addicted to technology, while moving away from physical activity. This downward trend is very alarming, he noted, and said that for complete development of their personality, students should get more and more involved in sports and team competitions. He praised the Sports department of the college and hoped that more such events would be organised in the future.
The entire programme was coordinated by Mr. Ravi Kumar, Physical Director of the college, who also presented the formal welcome address.
The programme was compared by Prof. Monika Mahajan, Head, Department of Computer Applications. The programme ended with Vote of Thanks presented by Prof. Pawan Gupta, Head, Department of Commerce. Matches of the tournament were officiated by Mr. Mulk Raj Sharma, Mr. Parvinder Singh and Mr. Anil Kumar.
