organized at SPMR
One Day Awareness Programme on Mission YUVA-Yuva Udyami Vikas Bhiyan in collaboration
with the Department of Labour and Employment was organised at Govt. SPMR College of
Commerce Jammu. Sh. Pawan Kumar, JKAS, Special Secretary, Labour and Employment
Department, Govt. of UT of J&K was Chief Guest on the occasion, while Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder
Singh, Principal of the college, presided over the function. Over 100 students and faculty members
of the college attended the event.
In his inaugural address, Sh. Pawan Kumar, JKAS appraised the audience about Mission YUVA -
Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan. He emphasized the importance of becoming a job creator instead of
a job seeker, and briefed the students about the various Government schemes available to startups
and entrepreneurs. He sensitised the students about the purpose, components and implementation
roadmap of Mission YUVA and explained how government agencies and Department of Labour
and Employment aimed to create 1, 50,000 entrepreneurs over the next 5 years.
Mr. Shahid Mushtaq, Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies, Central University of
Jammu informed the audience about ecosystem creation and various mechanisms for institutional
business support available to budding entrepreneurs. He described the structure and roles of
SBDUs, BHD and motivators at grass root level. He pointed out that at every level of local
government policies have been put in place to support and facilitate nano entrepreneurs.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. Pawan Gupta, HOD Commerce praised the efforts of the Labour
department in raising awareness about the various government schemes, and suggested that such
programmes are invaluable and more such initiatives should be organized in the future.
In his formal Vote of Thanks, Dr. Mohd Azam, HOD Urdu, thanked the Chief Guest and Resource
Persons for contributing their valuable time for educating the students on opportunities in
entrepreneurship available to them.
The entire programme was coordinated by Prof. Rekha Gupta, Prof. Shaji Khan, Prof. Sanjeev
Verma, Dr. Jagmeet Kour, Dr. Fayza, Dr. Madhu Bala, Prof. Sindhu, Prof. Binny Kumar, and Dr.
Roomi Rani.
Dr. Reena Rani, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, Dr. Sunal, Prof. Sabia, and others
were also present on the occasion.
