Kalash Yatra and Essay Writing Competition
NSS Units and Shikshit Bharat Committee in collaboration with Cultural and Literary Committee of Govt.
SPMR College of Commerce organized essay writing competition to celebrate Khadi Mahotsav on the
topic Atmanirbhar Bharat/Vocal for Local and Chandrayaan Utsav (Self Reliant India’s Chanrayaan)
under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. About 25 students participated
in the programme and expressed their views on the said topic. Essay writing competition was adjudged by
Prof. Savita Jamwal HOD Economics and Dr. Monika Malhotra IQAC Coordinator. In the essay writing
competition on the topic Self Reliant India’s Chanrayaan, Anamika Kandal of Sem 1 st bagged first prize,
whereas Pranav Verma of Sem 3 rd and Jamuna Choudhary of Sem 1 st shared 2 nd prize. Third position was
secured by Palak Gupta of Sem 1 st . The students who secured 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd position on the topic khadi Pe
Charcha were Shiksha Dogra Sem 1 st , Kamaldeep Kour Sem 1 st , Vinti Gandral Sem 1 st and Rashmi Sharma
Sem 3 rd . Later on a kalash Yatra was also organised in the college premises in which faculty members and
students actively participated. The participants carried the Amrit Kalash as a symbol of prosperity, peace
and love for our nation. The Yatra traversed through the college campus spreading the message of unity
and environment conservation. Principal Dr. Surinder Kumar appreciated the efforts of the committee
members for organizing such kind of competition which will instill in students the feeling pride and sense
of belongingness for the country. He also elaborated that “Meri Mati Mera Desh” has provided us a
meaningful platform to contribute to the holistic development of the nation, and this yatra aims to further
strengthen our commitments towards ours motherland. A significant number of students and faculty
members took Panch Pran pledge on the occasion. The other faculty members present on the occasion
were, Prof. Savita Jamwal, Prof. Shafqat Jahangir, Dr. Monika Malhotra, Dr. Sandhya Bhardwaj, Prof.
Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Sana, Mr. Malik Aijaz, and Mr. Raman Sharma. The whole programme was
