AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON COMMODITY DERIVATIVES

Manodarpan Career Counseling Cell of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce in collaboration with
Sharekhan Jammu under World Investor Week 2023 celebrated by SEBI from 9th to 15th October 2023,
organized Awareness Programme on Commodity Derivatives.
The programme began with lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries and Principal of the College.
Principal, Dr. Surinder Kumar, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion highlighted the importance of
investment behavior to be adopted by the students and encouraged them to take benefit of such sessions to
enhance their knowledge base. He also appreciated the efforts of organizing Committee for taking such
initiative for the benefit of the students.
Prof. Reeta Menia Co-convenor Manodarpan Career Counseling Cell formally welcomed the resource
person, faculty members and all participants.
Mr. Jai Gopal Goel, Senior Manager, MCX Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) and Mr. Ajay
Kapoor, Business partner and director Sharekhan Jammu Outlet gave an indepth understanding of the
commodity Derivatives market. Mr. Goel talked about the various aspects of commodity futures including
objectives, regulatory framework, ecosystem, hedging mechanisms, instruments and career opportunities
available for students.
More than 50 students participated in the interactive session. Prof Savita Jamwal, Dr Monika Malhotra, Dr
Sandhya Bhardwaj and Dr Roomi Rani were also present. The proceedings of the event were coordinated
by Dr Jagmeet Kour and Prof Reeta Menia presented the vote of thanks. Prof Ashu Manhas, Convenor,
Manodarpan Career Counseling Cell, Prof Shreya Sharma, Dr Fayza and Prof. Rajni Bala managed the
whole event.
