GOVT. SPMR COLLEGE OF COMMERCE, JAMMU FELICITATES STUDENTS AND FACULTY FOR PARTICIPATING IN “COLLEGE ON WHEELS- JK GYANODAYA EXPRESS 2023”
A felicitation Program was organised by the Govt. SPMR College of Commerce for the students and their mentor who went on College on Wheels Journey J&K Gyanodaya Express from 19 th to 2 nd Dec 2023. The first of its kind mobile educational initiative aimed at empowering 700 girl students from across the
Universities of J&K UT was inspired by the train journey undertaken by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma
Gandhi. Gandhi ji travelled through the nook and corner of the country to know the real India. The present
college on wheels journey was also a similar attempt which enabled the students to explore different parts
of India and learn while travelling. During the journey, students visited significant places such as
Parliament House and President House in Delhi, Kankaria Lake and Sabarnati Ashram in Gujrat, Naval
Dock yard and the Gate way of India in Mumbai, ISRO and IISC in Bangalore, Naval Shipyard and Beach
in Goa and Sewa Gram at Wardha, Maharashtra.
The felicitation program was attended by the faculty members and students of the college. Dr. Surinder
Kumar, Principal of the college and Liaison Officer of the programme congratulated the team for
successful participation in the prestigious Journey. To mark the achievement of students, a token of
appreciation was presented to the team members Ms. Gunjan Gupta, Ms. Rasneet Kour, Ms. Navdeep
Kour, Ms. Suhani Gupta, Ms. Pallavi, Ms. Yeasmin Nahar and Ms. Gudia. Faculty member who
accompanied the students, Dr. Deepak Pathania was also presented a memento.
A presentation on the various sites visited and the environmental conditions observed there was also shown
to the audience by the team. This was followed by an interactive session in which students shared their
experiences. Other students were inspired by this journey and expressed their desires to participate in such
programmes in future. Prof. Apfan Ali, Coordinator of the above said programme conducted the whole
proceeding of the event.
