Inauguration of Swachhta Pakhwada and Plantation Drive organized at SPMR College of Commerce
Eco Club, NSS and NCC Units along with other departments of the college under the aegis of IQAC organized Plantation Drive by planting trees under the Ek Pedh Ma Ke Naam campaign and marked the inauguration of Independence Day 2024 fortnight celebrations. Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh was Chief Guest on the occasion. This event marked a significant step towards a greener campus and a cleaner environment. The programme started with the plantation of Arocaria plant by Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh. This was followed by plantation of many trees such as Mango, Guava, Apple, Neem, Litchi etc. Several medicinal herbs such as Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Organo, Pathar Chatta, Murraya were also planted as a part of Herbal Garden. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh emphasised the importance of trees in combating climate change and enhancing the quality of life. He also said, "Planting trees is a patriotic act. It not only honours our nation's independence but also ensures a healthy future for generations to come." While expressing pride in the active participation of the college community, he added that our aim should be to create
an environmentally conscious generation that values and preserves nature. He said that the plantation drive was a step in that direction, and the college was committed to organising more such initiatives in the future. Faculty members and students also pledged to take proper care of the planted saplings. A Cleanliness Drive as part Swachhta Pakhwada was also carried out in the college campus by staff members and students. The event was conducted and coordinated by Dr. Deepshikha Sharma (NSS PO), Dr. Deepak Pathania (NSS PO and Convener, Eco Club) and Dr. Madhu Bala (NCC ANO). Those present on the occasion included Prof. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Reena Rani, Dr. Mohd. Azam, Prof. Ashu Manhas, Dr. Chetna Gupta, Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Prof. Ashraf
Nawaz, Prof. Monika Mahajan, Prof. Shaji Khan, Dr. Jagmeet Kour, Dr. Roomi Rani, Prof. Esha Abrol, Dr. Rajni Sharma, Dr. Neeru Anand, Dr. Mamta Rani and others. Mr. Tarsem and Mr. Amit assisted the plantation drive.
