One Day Seminar on “Financial Wisdom” in collaboration with SEBI and AMFI
Department of Commerce, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce organised one day seminar on the topic “Financial Wisdom” in collaboration with SEBI (Security Exchange Board of India) and AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India). The programme aimed to educate the students and faculty members with practical strategies for effective money management. The programme was attended by more than 100 students. The programme started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr. Rajinder Singh, Nodal Principal Dr. S. P. Saraswat, Mr. Amit Pradhan, Regional Director SEBI, Mr. Surya Kant Sharma, Senior Consultant AMFI and Mr. Gyanendra Niraj, DGM SEBI along with faculty members
of the college. Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal of the College extended a formal welcome to the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajinder Singh emphasized on the critical role of financial literacy that it plays in securing one’s financial future. Dr. S. P. Saraswat, Nodal Principal, apprehended that it is important to organise such comprehensive programme to address the growing need for practical financial knowledge among students. Prof. Pawan Kumar Gupta, HOD Commerce, briefed the audience about fundamentals of investment and securities market. He said that such kind of programmes empower the youth to make informed financial decisions. A series of lectures were conducted by expert speakers from SEBI and AMFI. Mr. Amit Pradhan, Regional Director SEBI, discussed in detail basics of Stock market including investment strategies, grievance redressal and dispute resolution mechanism, quasi judicial functions, etc. Mr. Surya
Kant Sharma, Senior Consultant AMFI, speaking on the topic, said we are committed to holistic development of youth and financial literacy is an important component of it. He emphasized that the
seminar will equip the students with the knowledge that they need to navigate complexities of financial market. Mr. Gyanendra Niraj, DGM SEBI, in his interactive session, raised various questions from the audience and resolved their investment related queries.
