Election Awareness Camp Held at Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu
Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu in collaboration with District Election Officer organized Awareness Camp as part of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) initiative. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal of the College. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Vikas Sharma Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu who is also the Nodal Officer of SVEEP, Miss Rasika (BDO), and their team. The Guests were welcomed by Dr. Rajni Sharma, Convener of Electoral Literacy Club. During the event Singing Competition and Dance Competition along with a humorous and educational skit on the electoral process was organized. The programme was organized to aware the young voters about their roles and participations in the elections. The day began with a humorous and educational skit by Toheed and his team, which was followed by an energetic dance performance by Juhi and Bhumi. Other students, including Amit, Tushar, Tanu, Varsha, and Karan, also delivered impressive performances.
The college Principal, Dr. Rajinder Singh, delivered a thought-provoking speech, emphasizing the critical role of youth in shaping the democratic process. He also extended his sincere thanks to the guests, Dr. Sharma and Miss Rasika, for sparing their valuable time for this awareness programme. Both guests shared insightful speeches, motivating students to be responsible voters.
The program was organized under the supervision of Dr. Rajni Sharma, Convener of Electoral Literacy Club of the college. In the day's competitions, Karan clinched the first prize in singing, while Tushar was awarded first place in the dance category. The event was attended by several faculty members, including Prof. Pawan Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, Prof. Rishu Mahajan, Prof. Sindhu Kotwal, Dr. Sunal Sharma, Dr. Mamta Rani and Mr. Ravi Kumar. The Election Awareness Camp continues to encourage students to be informed voters, contributing meaningfully to the electoral process.
